"The Human Contradiction" is DELAINs fourth studio album, and the highly-anticipated follow-up to 2012 release "We Are The Others", catapulting the band to world tours and entering charts across Europe. After releasing "Interlude" in 2013, DELAIN find themselves at the height of productivity with "The Human Contradiction", which is set to meet and exceed expectations set by its predecessors. The record was mixed by Fredrik Nordstrm and Henrik Udd at Fredman Studios (In Flames, Soilwork, Amon Amarth), mastered by Grammy Award winning Ted Jensen of Sterling Sound (Madonna, Muse, Marilyn Manson, Slipknot). The result is a massive sounding collection of songs recognised by DELAINs recent sound, forefronted with a darker symphonic approach compared to earlier works. Running darker edges on the instrumentals and lyrics, singer Charlotte Wessels states: The title "The Human Contradiction" is taken from one of my favourite books; Octavia E. Butlers trilogy Liliths Brood. A post-apocalypse story, in which the fact why humanity did not last, is explained by our two most contradictory qualities; the fact that we are as a species both intelligent and hierarchic. This human contradiction causes an us versus the others mentality, which in the book - as well as one could argue, in reality - proves to be a most self-destructive attitude.
