Condition of book: good to very good considering its age

This book is the story of General Sir Duncan McKenzie and of the family of Natal Settlers. Apart from the General's long military career the book also covers his early life , schooling at Hilton, transport riding and trading into Central Africa. The Anglo-Boer War is extensively covered and includes the relief of Ladysmith and actions at Lake Chrissie, Piet Retief, the Eastern Transvaal and Swaziland . He subsequently took command of the Natal Carbineers and commanded during the Bambata Rebellion and the German South West Africa Campaign between September 1914 and July 1915. All in all, the biography of a man at the center of some of the most important military campaigns in Southern Africa.
