AN INTERESTING DUTCH OUDE MOLLEN PLATE CELEBRATING THE DUTCH TRADESMEN IN THIS CASE THE VILLAGE BLACKSMITH. THIS IS A SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION PLATE IN THE OLD MASTER SERIES IT IS HEAVY (OVER 800G) AND WELL MADE. IT IS IN GOOD CONDITION AND COME WITH A HANGING BRACKET ATTACHED.
 
OUDE MOLEN WAS KNOWN FOR THEIR SOUVENIR ITEMS CIRCA 1920S-1960S. ITEMS MADE BY THEM HAVE STEADILY BECOME RARER AND COLLECTABLE.

OUDE MOLEN FABRIEK BV MADE MOSTLY SOUVENIR PLATES IN DELFT HOLLAND FROM 1920S TO THE 1960S. THEY ARE NO LONGER IN EXISTENCE.

DELFT BLUE:
DELFT POTTERY and the terms Delftware, Delft Blue or Delft Blauw refer to a specific decorative style that originated in the town of Delft in Holland. Potteries in the area made mostly simply-shaped earthenware vases, urns, plates or tiles date as far back as the early 16thC. Most Delftware are Blue & White designs and were in direct imitation to the widely popular Chinese imports to Europe of that era.
Today the terms Delft Blauw refer to all similar blue and white pottery notwithstanding where it is made. Delft as a style is still quite popular these days.
