Developer's dream PC - Dell Precision 530 - Dual 1.7GHz Xeon CPU's - 1GB ECC Ram
This is an authentic Dell Workstation PC, service tag 6VYXC0J. It was used as development/testing server for a development team, and has been maintained and supported by an IT team to date. It is really still in a wonderful condition, and really so good-looking (on top of excellent performance) to serve as Media Centre PC if needed.
It is loaded with XP at present, which is not a legal copy since I got it as part of my UNISA studies, and being used for my studies is one of the license conditions. Previously it was loaded with Suse 10.2, I think.
The defining feature of this system are the hard drives. They are Ultra fast! Check the specs below.
The memory is ECC RAM running at 800MHz, which definitely adds to the overall performance of the system.
The monitor itself deserves a mention. It's a Dell P1110 flat-screen Trinitron monitor. You can attach and switch between two computers, which makes it great if you have a PC on and server under the table. It runs 1600x1200 like a charm.
To give you an idea of how nicely the system performs - I used it to dump DVD's with DVDFab Platinum. The CPU's were running at less than 10% during the entire dump!

Please note:
The only defect I know about is the front cover door, the hinges are broken. It seems this is a common defect on this range of Dell workstation PC's. The cover is still present and can be fitted manually though. And there are a few scuffs on the front and side covers, nothing that jumps out though.
Delivery:
This PC and screen are VERY HEAVY. I would suggest local pickup (Pretoria during office hours, Hartbeespoort other hours). The PC weighs approx 25kg and the screen 35kg. In boxes you can probably add 5 kg to each with packaging. I REALLY suggest pickup or arrangements for drop-off to be made for this item. I don't mind taking a weekend off to drop it off in Durban, as long as you cover some of the costs. Mail me and we can discuss if you need this "service".
You are really welcome to arrange any shipping service, courier, donkey or aeroplane to pick it up from me, but I really don't have time to figure out how to get this equipment shipped to you. From my side I can really only accomodate the above options.
Bonus:
I currently store my entire template and audio-book collection on the striped HDD. I will leave it there.
