Delosperma sphalmanthoides Seeds - Indigenous Succulents Caudiciform Bonsai

Delosperma is a rather large genus of succulents with over 100 species. It can be found from southern South Africa, up to Zimbabwe and even as far as Arabia. Most of the species are subshrubs or of a trailing habit. This genus also boasts the most frost resistant mesembs, Delosperma cooperi and D. nubigenum. They will survive -17°C or even less. In general, plants from this genus are to a lesser degree susceptible to overwatering.

Delosperma sphalmanthoides is an excellent rock garden plant, a real cutie that blooms in early spring with incredibly profuse display of jewel-like magenta flowers. It grows only 1-2 cm high by 15-20cm wide. It will take quite severe frost and can be grown as an alpine. Delosperma is a genus that requires very little maintenance. Although they are succulent they need plenty of water. Treating them like other succulents with limited watering will cause their untimely death.
