Delphinium is a genus of about 300 species of perennial and biennial flowering plants in the buttercup family Ranunculaceae, native throughout the Northern Hemisphere and also on the high mountains of tropical Africa. The common name, Larkspur, is shared with the closely related genus Consolida. Delphinium Blue Butterfly is great for bees, butterflies and birds. Blooms late in Spring to mid Summer and is 40cm tall and likes full sun. Delicate spires covered with marine to light blue blossoms adorn these compact plants. This charming beauty is an excellent choice for small spaces or as an accent in the border or cottage garden. Delphiniums grow well in containers and spots where the wind would topple the taller spires. Nice accent for small spaces, cottage gardens, borders, and containers.
