The Delta Wing was a totally unconventional car designed by Ben Bowlby and built by Dan Gurney's All American Racers. The project started in 2009, financially supported by Chip Ganassi, with the aim of having it adopted as the new IndyCar starting from 2012. For IndyCar it was the Dallara project that was adopted and so Don Panoz, manager of the initiative, agreed with the ACO for a participation in the 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans, in the experimental vehicles category. Nissan supplied the engine, acquiring the right to name the car that later made other appearances, also equipped with a closed cockpit.
