The stone part of the formation makes this desert rose look like a real tree; and with little white quartz and redish calcite formation in the gypsum, I would say it's a fruit tree.

Desert rose is the colloquial name given to rosette formations of the minerals gypsum and barite with poikilotopic sand inclusions. The 'petals' are crystals flattened on the c crystallographic axis, fanning open along characteristic gypsum cleavage planes.

Silicified desert rose has assimilated quartz in gypsum, so it is less fragile than a plain gypsum one.
