Dianthus deltoides or Maiden Pink is a striking perennial that grows from 15 to 45 cm in height, should be spaced 20 to 30 cm apart in full sun. You would be forgiven if you thought that “pink” refers to the color. While it is true that these flowers are usually pink, the name refers to the petals of the flower which look as if they were cut with a pinking shears! This plant thrives in many different soils, requires little attention and seems to do very well even when abused! It can be divided and spread out easily and makes a great border flower!
