Opgedra aan almal – vriende, vyande, en burgerlikes – wat hulle, lewens in die Grensoorlog (1966-89) verloor het.
Sover die oog kan reik wemel die vlakte van perderuiters wat almal gestadig vorentoe gaan, grens toe. Dit was 'n aangrypende toneel en ek sal nooit vergeet hoe ek oorlog toe gery het met daardie groot heerskaar. Dit het alles in onheil geëindig, en ek skryf hierdie in 'n vreemde land, maar die gedagtes aan daardie eerste dae sal altoos by my bly.
