Die Jongspan newspapers 1966 - 1968
Die Jongspan was the first Afrikaans weekly magazine for children.
It originated from Die Kleinspan , first published on 13 February 1925 – it appeared as a column and later appendix to the Huisgenoot magazine, on 16 November 1935 it was renamed Die Jongspan and published from January 24th 1936 as an independent weekly newspaper. From 1958 Die Kleinspan and Die Jongspan were published separately, but in 1962 the two sheets merged together. On 7 April 1969 Die Jongspan ceased to exist and was replaced by Vonk, where colour was used. Wonderful Afrikaans childrens memorabilia.
