Dieramas may be found from the southern Cape northwards through eastern Africa to Ethopia and from sea level to the top of the Drakensberg escarpment at 10,000'. One of the highlights of mid-summer is viewing Angel's fishing rod in full flower. Resembling a fishing rod, long, arching spikes rise above the 100 cm grass-like leaves, each one drooping under the weight of pendular pink bells. To get the full benefit of this trouble free plant, grow it in a sheltered spot in full sun.

Dierama mossii grows to 1m in height. Unlike most other Dierama species, Dierama mossii thrives in damp soil. It has delicate mauve to pink flowers borne on erect stems during summer.
