Dieramas may be found from the southern Cape northwards through eastern Africa to Ethopia and from sea level to the the top of the Drakensberg escarpment at 10,000'. One of the highlights of mid-summer is viewing Angel's fishing rod in full flower. Resembling a fishing rod, long, arching spikes rise above the 100 cm grass-like leaves, each one drooping under the weight of pendular pink bells. To get the full benefit of this trouble free plant, grow it in a sheltered spot in full sun. Dierama reynoldsii grows in medium to high-altitude grassland in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
