DINING ROOM SUITE - EXTENDING TABLE; 8 CHAIRS, SIDEBOARD; SERVER early 1960’s vintage
This is a vintage dining room suite from the late 1950’s or early 1960’s. It consists of a table with rounded ends. The table top rests on two sturdy supports supported by tripod legs tipped with metal claw feet. The table measures approximately: Length 184cm x width 102cm and extends in the middle by another 60cm.
There are 8 chairs consisting of six dining chairs and two carvers or chairs with arms rests. The chairs are covered in a blue fabric that is clean and about three years old. The upholstery cushioning on the chairs is in good condition.
There is a sideboard consisting of two cabinets on either side and three drawers in the middle. The drawers are lined with green felt. The approximate measurements are: Length:162cm x width: 49cm.
There is a server with two small drawers on either side and a larger drawer in the middle. The middle drawer has sections for holding cutlery. The drawers are lined with green felt. The approximate measurements are: Length 109cm x width 49cm.
The suite has had good use in one family for its entire life. It has some wear and damage to the surfaces in places but the construction of the whole suite including the chairs, is still strong, solid and sturdy, and will last for many years. All the ring handles are in good order. This is a good suite that would benefit from some refurbishment to restore it to its former glory. It would suit a large family that enjoys sitting down together for meals.
I don’t know what wood the suite is made of. It is dark with a high gloss finish - which seemed to be the fashion nearly fifty years ago.
The starting price is low, R100.00 and there is no reserve.
