Dinky Supertoys 982 Bedford Pullmore Car Transporter Circa 1955-1964 RARE

THE DINKY SUPERTOYS 982 BEDFORD PULLMORE CAR TRANSPORTER IS A RARE VINTAGE 1:43 SCALE DIECAST MODEL PRODUCED BY MECCANO LTD IN THE UK BETWEEN APPROXIMATELY 1955 AND 1964.
 
It came in a distinctive blue finish (ours was repainted), and often included "Dinky Delivery Service" decals (seem repainted over). The transporter features a Bedford cab, blue paint, and blue ridged hubs with rubber tyres - blue paint can still be seen underneath and on hubs. The rear hinged tailgate is designed to open and close for loading, and it often came with a detached loading ramp (not included).

CONDITION: PAINT SCRAPES. WAS REPAINTED IS PAST. ALL THE TYRES ARE THERE BUT THE TRUCK HAS ONE TYRE DAMAGED. NO DETACHEBLE RAMP TO OFFLOAD TO LEVEL. EVERYTHING STILL FUNCTIONS THOUGH AS SHOULD.
 
DINKY:
Dinky Toys was produced by Meccano Ltd in Liverpool, England, from 1934 to 1979. They were pioneering die-cast zinc alloy model vehicles, originally designed as accessories for Hornby model trains. Introduced in December 1933 as Modelled Miniatures before being officially named Meccano Dinky Toys in April 1934. Frank Hornby, founder of Meccano, developed them to add realism to railway layouts.
Early models (1930s) included cars and trucks, with production halting during WWII for war efforts. Post-war, Dinky toys continued to innovate with improved details like opening doors and springy wheels.Primarily produced in Binns Road, Liverpool, with a separate French factory. Later, in the 1970s, some production was moved to Hong Kong, often producing lower-quality or simplified models to cut costs.
Due to economic challenges, the Liverpool factory closed in 1979. The brand was later acquired by Universal Toys (owners of Matchbox) in 1987, but new dedicated casting ceased by the early 2000s.
