A SHORT BIOGRAPHY - DINO PARAVANO (1935)
Dino was born in Rome, Italy and immigrated with his family to South Africa during 1947, when he was 12 years old. Art has always been a part of Dinos life. He started painting at an early age, taught and encouraged by his amateur artist father.
Dino attended the Johannesburg College of Art and travelled to Europe on study tours, but in essence he is mainly self-taught.
His works are included in many collections like the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, the Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum, the Bennington Center for Arts and the Wildlife Experience Museum. Other collections include the Raymond James Financial, Nedbank, Standard Bank, Barclays Bank (First National Bank) and Wesbank, ABSA, South African Reserve Bank, Total Oil-South Africa, South African Broadcasting Corporation, the Hamilton Memorial Library at Skukuza in the Kruger National Park and Mala Mala Game Reserve art collections.
Other works by him hang in many other companies and private collections throughout Southern Africa, the United States of America, Canada, Europe, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Middle East and the Orient. Dino has had numerous international reviews, interviews and mentions in newspapers, magazines, catalogues, radio and television (including a television interview via satellite link-up on Good Morning South Africa during 1992).
Having reached his peak in South Africa, Dino wanted to expand his horizons and often travelled to the US and many countries around the world. During 1992, Dino and his family emigrated from South Africa to the US. They now live in Tucson, Arizona.*
