Dirk Bianchina (Diederik Johannes)
Another Investment Art Listing on the R1 N/R Auction!!! On offer this incredibly well painted Oil on board, by renowned South African artist Dirk Bianchina, signed in the lower right corner. In my opinion, one of South Africa's most accomplished artists and investing in Bianchina art can only show substantial growth in the future. A Seascape with incredible detail, the paint applied quite thickly in places and the painting with a lovely "sheen", makes for a truly stunning painting. It is framed in a gilded frame with inner canvas mounting, the frame in good condition apart from a few "nicks" on the corners and the canvas mounting needs a good wipe. It is a large painting, measuring 90x61cm (with frame) and 72.5x42.5cm (painting only). It has a few pinprick spots that look like fly spots to me, should come clean with a good wipe, a small line in the sky area (5mm long) that looks like a stray brush hair as well as a couple of small spots of a reddish hue that could be the base paint coming through , a few pinprick white dots on the waves (unintended droplets by the artist?), the above not glaringly noticeable and certainly does not affect the value or beauty of this stunning art, but mentioned for accuracy sake.
Bianchina, a self-taught painter, was born in 1932 in Johannesburg. His mother was a known landscapes artist from Europe and as a result, he started drawing and painting from a very young age. Today he only paints in oils and is recognized locally and internally for his art. Solo exhibitions include Germany, Austria, England and South Africa. Anybody who has done their research will see that Bianchina's art is very popular and sought after and fetches very good prices when it does come up for sale.
