This splendidly illustrated book was sponsored by Mobil Producing Nigeria on behalf of the Nigerian Conservation Foundation as part of their Conservation Education Programme. Its main aim is to encourage an interest in Nigerian birds in young people by introducing them to the fascinating facts about the birds around them, and the book has much to interest the general reader.

This book is the first of its kind specifically about the birds of Nigeria and where to see them. Based on the authors own extensive personal experience of Nigeria, this book is packed with interesting information about the biology and behaviour of the country's birds. The chapters describing some of the common birds are illustrated with photographs taken in Nigeria by the author's husband. They provide an invaluable aid to identification, and together with the information about where to go bird watching, they make this book a must for bird-watchers in Nigeria.
