Documents & Paper relating to the Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek

The documents are: -

  • "Volmag om Transport te Geven" (Potchefstroom 10 Ferbruarie 1898) & "Kwitantie van Heerenrecht" (21 Maart 1898).
  • The second document "Verklaring van den Kooper" is not in as good condition but what is very interesting is that payment of £400 was made to Christiaan Johannes Joubert and the land named "Buffelskloof" in the Waterberg district. The document was signed at Nylstroom on 17 July 1897. Christiaan Johannes Joubert (1834 - 1911) was a former member of the executive council and in 1885 elected as Vice State President of the South African Republic. According to Geni.com, the Jouberts owned a farm named "Buffelskloof" near Lydenburg in the Transvaal. The city of Johannesburg was named after Joubert and Johann Friedrich Bernhard Rissik.
  • Le Petit Journal dated 26 October 1902 depicting the arrival of the Boer Generals in Paris on the front page.
