Douglas Treasure gives more atmosphere and movement to this painting than he usually does, with a painting of some blue gums being pummelled by the South-Easter that is so prevalent in the South Peninsula in Cape Town. In the distance are the hills above Noordhoek.
There is a plain white wooden frame which suits the picture.
Watercolour painting is 29 x 23 cm. Frame is 47 x 43 cm.
Ready to hang on your wall, in excellent unfaded condition.
I really rate him as one of South Africa's best watercolourists, right up there with artists like Sydney Carter.
He was born in 1917 in Adelaide, Cape, South Africa.
Studied art under John Muff-Ford 1935-1938.
He participated in a huge number of group exhibitions from 1939 on, including in the UK and in Australia.
Had 10 solo exhibitions in Joburg, 5 in Cape Town, and 1 in London.
Is represented in numerous galleries and collections.
He had some exquisite ranges of limited edition prints, and I am selling 2 of these on BIDORBUY at the moment, as well as more in the shop.
He died in 1995.
Secure packaging and tracked postage is R70. I would prefer to post without the glass.
We are Treasure House, a real brick and mortar shop in the greater Cape Town area, selling pictures from the same address for over 15 years.
