DOUGLAS TREASURE 1917 - 1995 Born in Adelaide, Cape Province

Deceased Artist normally Value doubles quite quickly due to no more work coming on the market. The framing alone would set you back more than the cost of the picture these days.

Douglas Treasure obtained his formal training at the Port Elisabeth School of Art. A commercial art career included extensive experience as a illustrator, designer, visualiser and finally art director of a major company. During this time his love of watercolour landscape painting flourished, and in 1973 he retired from advertising in order to become a full-time professional painter.

Today, a Douglas Treasure water colour is regarded by many as a definite statement of the art of watercolour painting and the beauty of the Cape. Douglas, who now lives in Fish Hoek, Cape Province. He has held many exhibitions through out South Africa including 15 one man shows.

His works are represented in private collections in England, America, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Australia and Argentina.

Quote from the Argus (Cape Town Newspaper) 20 Feb 1990:

Fish Hoek artist Douglas Treasure is the only South African represented in best selling British Author Ron Ransom's new book, Watercolour Impressionists.

His listing among the top watercolourists in the world has given him the opportunity to savour that kind of success all artists dream of - International recognition in their own lifetime. Few achieve this.
