Douglas Treasure is at his best when he is painting these dappled green rural scenes I think.

His precise and mellow style works well with architectural features such as this Cape Dutch house.

Unfortunately I don't know which house it is. Perhaps you do?

The mount is luxurious, with both gold and green trim and the gilt frame is in keeping with the picture.

I really rate him as one of South Africa's best watercolourists, right up there with artists like Sydney Carter.

He was born in 1917 in Adelaide, Cape, South Africa.

Studied art under John Muff-Ford 1935-1938.

He participated in a huge number of group exhibitions from 1939 on, including in the UK and in Australia.

Had 10 solo exhibitions in Joburg, 5 in Cape Town, and 1 in London.

Is represented in numerous galleries and collections.

He  has some exquisite ranges of limited edition prints, and I am selling 2 of these on BIDORBUY at the moment.
