DOULTON BURSLEM COOKIE JAR FROM LATE-1800s
.jpg)
The famous and much sought after Royal Doulton took the name "Doulton" in 1853 when it had its operations in Lambeth.
In the early 1880s it moved to Burslem and china produced during this time were stamped "Doulton Burslem Kew".
The name "Royal Doulton" only started in production in 1901.
This porcelain cookie jar with silver plated trim and handle comes from the Burslem years
and it  is therefore anything up to 130 years old or at least 110 years.
This is very collectible because of the time period, the style and, of course, the name.
Unfortunately it has a very fine crack on one side but a professional restorer told me last week
it can be repaired without anything visible afterwards. The silver plating also needs repair.
I believe this is worthwhile because the jar has minimal crazing except at the bottom,
the colours are true and it is a wonderful item.
Please study the pictures to get a better idea.
