DRAG MAG South Africa's First Drag Racing Magazine | June 1970 | Vol. 1 No. 5 | Winternationals Special Issue
Original June 1970 issue of DRAG MAG, Volume 1, Number 5, published as the Winternationals Special Issue. As South Africa's first dedicated drag racing magazine and the official journal of the Drag Racing Club of South Africa, this increasingly scarce publication captures the excitement and rapid development of drag racing during its formative years.
This special issue features extensive coverage of the 1970 Winternationals, together with reports on the 3 August 1970 Drag Meet, Santa Pod Meet (U.K.), Steelveld Speedfest, Stateside Report, Drag Personality, Dragster Chassis Design, Building an AA/Fuel Dragster, Budget Building a Special, Colour Festival, Club Corner, Drag Deals, Drag Queen Contest, and the regular Afrikaans feature Die Begin van 'n Wedren. Packed with period photography, technical illustrations and race reports, it offers an authentic snapshot of early South African motorsport culture.
The striking cover features Flippie Smith's Fiat/Ford Cobra V8, one of South Africa's best-known early drag racing machines. An excellent collectible for enthusiasts of drag racing, hot rods, classic performance cars, vintage motorcycles, automotive engineering and South African motoring history.
