Xenoverse 2 builds on its predecessor by offering a vast hub world (Canton City) and a time-traveling story that lets you rewrite iconic moments from Dragon Ball history. The combat is flashy, fast, and full of energy blasts and martial arts madness. While the mechanics are simple enough for newcomers, theres a decent skill ceiling for competitive play.
You create your own character from multiple races (Saiyan, Namekian, Human, etc.), and customize their look, abilities, and even their mentormeaning you can train under Goku, Frieza, Cell, etc., and learn their moves. This adds a fun RPG element that keeps things feeling personal.
However, combat can start to feel repetitive, especially in longer play sessions. AI can be either brain-dead or annoyingly spammy, and some missions rely too heavily on surviving wave after wave of enemies.
📚 Story & Content: 8.5/10
The time-patrol plot is serviceable, letting you dive into "what-if" versions of famous battles from DBZ, Super, and even movies. There's a ton of content: parallel quests, online battles, raid events, and endless customization options.
If youre a Dragon Ball fan, this game is a love letter to the franchise.

The cel-shaded art style holds up well, but the game is starting to show its age. Character models are solid, but environments feel sparse and dated. The animations, especially ultimate moves, are where it shines. Sound-wise, the voice acting is solid (with English and Japanese options), and the music is energetic but repetitive.

Tons of multiplayer options: PvP, co-op quests, tournaments, and team battles. There's also a pretty dedicated online community. However, matchmaking can be slow at times, and theres a heavy grind element if youre looking to stay competitive.
