25 x Dragonfruit seeds

The dragon fruit, Selenicereus undatus, is a climbing cactus native to regions of Central America and northern South America. It is widely cultivated throughout tropical and subtropical parts of the world for its attractive fruit, vigorous growth, and spectacular flowers. The plant is well adapted to warm climates and can thrive in areas with seasonal rainfall and well-drained soils.

This species produces long, fleshy, three-sided green stems that climb by means of aerial roots, often reaching several metres in length when provided with support. One of its most remarkable features is its enormous white flowers, which open at night and are among the largest flowers produced by any cactus. These fragrant blooms are followed by brightly coloured fruits with pink to red skin and white flesh speckled with small black seeds.

Selenicereus undatus is valued both as an ornamental plant and a fruit crop. The fruit is mildly sweet and refreshing, while the plant itself creates a striking tropical appearance when trained onto trellises, posts, or walls. Mature plants can be highly productive, yielding multiple crops per year under favourable conditions.

Growing Selenicereus undatus is relatively easy in warm, frost-free climates. It prefers full sun to light shade and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Support structures are essential, as the stems naturally climb rather than stand upright. Regular watering during active growth promotes vigorous development and fruit production, but waterlogged conditions should be avoided. It is sensitive to severe frost and should be protected from prolonged cold. With proper care, dragon fruit develops into a long-lived and highly rewarding fruiting cactus

Sow seeds into sterile media and keep above 20 degrees celcius. Seeds should germinate within 20 days
