Hitherto, history has recorded that on the 18th of June 1588, Sir Thomas Cavendish, aboard his ship "Desire" was the first Englishman to set foot in the remote Island of St. Helena situated in the vast South Atlantic Ocean.
My subsequent research has proved otherwise, and as a result, compelling documentary evidence has emerged which clearly indicates that in fact, the first Englishman to arrive in St Helena sometime towards the end of the month of June 1580, was Francis Drake aboard his ship "The Golden Hind", eight years before Sir Thomas Cavendish.
