REMARKABLE LARGE EMBELLISHED ALPACA RING WITH UNUSUAL AVENTURINE GEMSTONE. HEAVY!

A Bohemian statement piece, this large ring features an unusual gemstone - a green Aventurine, a glorious greenish turquoise colour, opaque, with darkish inclusions. Aventurine takes its name from the Italian word 'a ventura', a type of glass discovered at the beginning of the 18th century, named because of the microscopic particles of mica within the stone. The softly domed cabochon is bezel set in a very long (39mm!) alpaca silver cylindrical ring head. 3-D embellishments add interest and texture to the piece in the form of twisted rope designs forming the border of the gemstone as well as four flat coiled rope details, two above and 2 below the gemstone. The shank has been creatively designed with a wire band running from both sides, under the finger and doubling back on itself before reaching the other side, creating a shank that is adjustable. Where the wires join the ring head, they splay out at almost 90 degrees, sitting on top of the smoothly polished silver, running nearly the length of the head and ending in a swirl on either side. The heavy, 7,07 gram ring sits snugly and smoothly on the finger, a bonus being the adjustability of the shank. Its a vintage piece and shows a few minor scuff marks. Also the aventurine gemstone is not 100% evenly set into the frame. One side sits 1mm higher than the other. Please note, this is not sterling silver! It is alpaca (also known as 'alpaca'), which is an alloy consisting of copper, zinc, nickel and tin. Flamboyant and very Bohemian, this is a large and unusual piece.
