Properties:

• Diaphoretic
• Anti-catarrhal
• Diuretic

Traditional Uses:

• Treatment of colds and influenza
• Addresses inflammation of the upper respiratory tract such as hay fever and sinusitis
• May benefit catarrhal deafness
• Induces sweat in feverish chills
• Purifies the blood, kidneys, liver, and skin
• Cleanses mucous from the tissues
• Stimulates peristaltic action in the colon
• Helpful for rheumatism, scrofula, gout, syphilis, epilepsy, and chronic diseases
• Alleviates headaches due to colds
• Acts as a mild laxative

Directions for Use:

• Infusion: Pour 1 cup of boiling water onto 2 teaspoons of flowers. Infuse for 10-15 minutes. Strain and drink hot, three times a day.
• Ointment: Mix equal parts flowers and lard. Heat, let infuse, and strain through a cloth with pressure. Apply.
