If you are going to connect a led smaller than a 100W, first connect your voltmeter and reduce the voltage to approx 15-20V by turning the potentiometer screw, then connect the led and ampmeter inline in order to measure the amp output to the led and turn up the voltage up until your amp reading corresponds to the specified forward current for the led.
