Additional Information
An important book well worth the read on a magazine that made a huge footprint in a country where newspapers struggled against the odds to tell the truth and black magazines were looked down on as mere trifles. As the last managing editor of Drum, before it crumbled in the wake of purchase by Nasionale Pers (then an Afrikaans enclave of apartheid), I felt proud to have a taste of its glory and hopefully add a last gasp to it. Its creation was the idea of often hard to work with, pro Africanist but near genius and dedicated magazine and newspaper owner Jim Bailey.
