The PVR has all the features of a dual-view decoder and incorporates a hard disk on which programming can be recorded, combined with sophisticated software features that revolutionise the very idea of watching television

The key feature of the DStv PVR is the ability to record up to 80 hours of video on a hard drive. Unlike DVDs, the PVR's hard disk allows recording and playback at the same time, and has the speed and flexibility to support sophisticated functions. These include a two-hour rolling buffer, which continuously records the channel that is being viewed so viewers can pause live television and skip backwards to an earlier point in the recorded broadcast.

Some of the remarkable highlights of the DStv PVR are:

•Its large, fast, hard disk drive stores up to 40 movies or up to 80 hours of programming. Suddenly a 40-hour work week looks remarkably long.
•The unique ability to watch two different channels live even while recording a third channel at the same time. Now you won't miss a thing.
•Using one-button click you can select programmes to record simply by using the electronic programme guide. At last, programming a recorder is no longer rocket science!
•Live pause. Answer the telephone, make a sandwich, pop out to the shop, and continue watching where you left off when you return.
•Live instant replay. Click a button, and instantly skip back 10 seconds. Click it again and skip another 10. Never again miss a goal, a spectacular scene, or a line of dialogue.
•Live slow motion. Slow down the broadcast while it’s playing, in real time, without missing a frame. Create your own replay during live sport broadcasts!
•Full control over recorded programming, including fast forwarding, setting bookmarks or playing in slow motion.
