"During the night attack at Italenie, Zululand, on Sep 26th 1901, Burger M T Brink and myself carried late Burger Davie Louw, then wounded (badly) with broken leg and arm out & took him away about 5 yards from the forts, & myself getting 2 bullets through my hat".

NVF - Nearly very fine.
F - Fine; majority of the original detail is still visible, but there will be moderately heavy wear all over the medal.
G - Good; should be poor with very little of the original detail visible.
