Review

On the arid planet of Dune (U)lies a precious spice. Those who own the spice own the planet. There is only a finite amount of spice available and competition is fierce.

Designed by the creator of the Command & Conquerseries, Westwood Studioshas now transferred their successful Dune (U)franchise to the PlayStation. Loosely based on the movie of the same name, the game is introduced through a beautiful cinematic sequence and simple menu system. The graphics are superior to Westwood's previous PlayStation release Command & Conquer: Red Alert, and the sounds aren't bad either. However, as with most strategy games, Dune (U)'s strength lies in its gameplay. Given only limited resources, the challenge is to build an army capable of defeating your enemy. With 30 different levels and an almost infinite numbers of ways to complete them, this game will have a long life span.

Being originally a PC game, the controls have not translated well to the PlayStation's joypad, and many might think that Dune (U)is a little too similar to Command & Conquerto offer anything new. However, Westwood has proved once again that it is still the leader when it comes to creating real-time strategy games. --Alex Leung
