A VINTAGE DUTCH HOOIJKAAS HH90 SILVERPLATED CAKE OR PIE. WITH A HIGHLY DECORATIVE TAVERN SCENE AND FLORAL EMBOSSED (RAISED PATTERN) AND CUT OUT DESIGN. THE HANDLE FINAAL IS A FUNCTIONAL ROTATING WINDMILL

H HOOIJKAAS (1874-2008) WAS A FAMOUS DUTCH SCHOONHOVEN SILVER FACTORY. The company became in the thirties the most important silver factory in Schoonhoven and Schoonhoven's main employer, Hooijkaas had a major impact on the local Schoonhoven society. The silver factory of Hooijkaas, at a large-scale, produced hand made silver and silverplated items. In the boom years the company employed around 150 people.

Cake or Pie servers became common with the European bourgeoisie, the wealthy middle-upper class. They first appeared in Europe in about the early 1800s, and quickly caught on amongst the bourgeoisie.

H Hooijkaas Dutch Mark for silver-plated objects. This number is a measure of the thickness of the layer of silver that has been applied.

Silver Factory, founded in 1874 and led by the successive members of the Hooijkaas family. In 1874, the company named; Hooijkaas Schoonhovense silver factory was founded by Hubertus Hooijkaas and started as a small workshop. Around 1890 the company began to specialized in the electrolytic manufacturing of old Dutch silver. The company became in the thirties the most important silver factory in Schoonhoven and Schoonhoven's main employer. In the boom years the company employed around 150 people. In the nineties, Hooijkaas emphasis shifted from production company to a trading company. The Zilverfabriek Hooijkaas Schoonhoven; after a few years of being empty, has been demolished in 2005, to give way to further urban development.
