A stoneware bottle for Lucas Bols Gin, dating from the late 1890s.The bottle is 32cm high and was thrown on a potter's wheel. It has a quite crudely applied handle. The incising reads "Ervenis Lucas Bols Het Lootsje Amsterdam" which literally translated means "The heirs to the little shed of Lucas Bols Amsterdam". Make of that what you wish! The bottle, dug from a dump, is in very good condition, with a very minor flake chip on the base.
