The Dwarf Sugar gum is a small white flowering eucalyptus from Southern Australia. It grows to half the size - normally to 5 to 7 metres tall as compared to 20 to 25 metres for the non-dwarf variety. The bark is smooth and sheds to give irregular white, yellow and gray patches. It has white flowers in January and February and large gum nuts. It tolerates alkaline or clay soils and is suitable for slightly saline sites. It is a useful tree for a hedge, screening plant or low windbreak and is a good bee. Fast growing but frost-tender when young. It needs a minimum rainfall 400mm. It makes an attractive bonsai specimen.
