The EarDoc is manufactured in Israel by a medical manufacturing company, using medical grade materials under strict controls. It is FDA & CE approved, as a medical device.

EarDoc is a non-invasive approved medical device for middle ear infection (otitis media) treatment and other conditions involving ear pain in children and adults.

Can the EarDoc be used with Grommets?

In my experience with the EarDoc, there is no hazard in using the Eardoc while having grommets in the ear. The Eardoc is a very safe device, developed to have no side-effects on the user.

Your question has several issues I would like to address:

1. The EarDoc is a non-invasive medical device. As such it cannot do any damage to the Ear drum. It is a very safe device.

2. The EarDoc is meant for use for children and adults over 12 months old. For children 12-24 months old, parents supervision is needed. The EarDoc should be used in low intensity, and for about one minute long. To make the child embrace it, the parent should present it as a toy, and let the kid play with it for a few minutes so he will see its harmless and ¿ticklish¿ when vibrating.

3. We recommend the EarDoc as a solution prior to trying ear tube surgery (tympanostomy / grommets). The EarDoc drains the fluids and air which the tubes are supposed to release from the ear, therefore its beneficial to use, even when the tubes are in.

4. Tympanostomy (Grommets) is when the tubes are inserted in to the ear. The EarDoc will also drain the fluids and air left in the ear, thereby helping the grommets do what they are meant to do.

The EarDoc will not compromise the procedure. I would recommend that before going for surgery, moms should try the EarDoc for 2-3 weeks on the child, and see if they get results from it. In our research, you can see the graph describing the patients who used the EarDoc and the ones waiting for surgery. You can see evidence of improvement in all aspects of hearing, fluids in the ear, and pain reduction.

Clinical studies - Eardoc

Eardoc was tested in the Medical Faculty of the Szeged University to investigate the efficiency of the treatment of Chronic Seromucinous Otitis Media (CSOM) in order to overcome the conventional treatment of medication and insertion of ventilation tubes. The Eardoc device operates by transmitting vibrations, thereby providing a peristaltic movement to the mucosa of the Eustachian tube to provide air for the middle ear cavity. Efficiency was determined using a Tympanometer and an independent online satisfaction survey was also conducted. 35 patients (70 ears) were assigned to the test group, 35 patients were assigned to the control group (70 ears). The tympanometry study group was made up of 35 patients (70 ears) ranging in age from 2 to 40 years, who were diagnosed with one or more of the following: Acute Tubal Occlusion (Hemotympanum); Acute Otitis Media, CSOM. Out of the 35 patients 66 ears were tested and after five weeks six patients did not return to the clinic to perform the tympanogram test. They had reported by phone that they are no longer suffering from ear pain, and do not need any further treatment. Type ¿A¿ indicated a normal tympanic cavity; Type ¿B¿ indicated fluids in the middle ear; and Type ¿C¿ was a tympanic cavity effusion.

Results:

The number of patients with malfunctioned Eustachian Tubes decreased from 39 to 2 ears after 6 weeks while the number of normal ears increased from 12 to 32 in the same time period. In the control group, there was no significant change. The patients in the study group showed a significant improvement with 95% of the users who said they had blocked ears, defined as a feeling of pressure and fullness in the ear (in case of infants the tympanomertic result assumes this sensation of blocked ears), showing a reduction in tube blockage. In the control group, however, there were no significant improvements. The results of our investigation indicate that the participants who use the Eardoc felt relived after using the EARDOC

94 % Reported that the pain was relieved or eliminated. 94.3% would use EARDOC device in the future if they suffered from ear pain. 35% used Eardoc as they had pain from time to time. 26% used Eardoc device due to otitis media. 23.5% reported that Eardoc helped them to absorb the medication.

Eardoc had a 100% success in relieving ear pain or completely eliminating it in patients that suffered from accumulation of fluids!

Testimonials:

The EarDoc should be an essential item in your first aid kit - a fantastic weapon in your first line of defense for excruciating earache at 1am. Ivette's level of customer service is unparalleled!

Taiya Self, mom to 18 month old boy, Johannesburg

So far all is well and the eardoc seems to be wonderful. I used it on the 06/09/2011 but after that I didn¿t need to use it again. Will inform you when the need arises again.

Kind Regards,

I had the chance to try it (EarDoc) this weekend, my left ear was starting to close up and hurt, I treated both ears for a minute each and I have to say I was surprised when I touched the ear a bit later and there was no sign of swelling.

My mom has suffered from painful ears her whole adult life. We lived in Durban when I was a teenager and whenever we went for a walk on the beach, she used to cover her ears with a scarf or jacket to protect them from the wind, otherwise she'd have earache ("steek in die oor") that night. As an adult, I was very glad that I didn't have issues with my ears like my mom, then about 3 years ago (at 35) I started having regular discomfort, and in the last 18 months I have been to the dr a number of times for ear infections. My GP told me I have particularly narrow earcanals, and they have a "kink" in them, making it difficult for the ears to drain - making ear examinations difficult for her (and ouch for me), and the tiniest bit if swelling causes severe pain.

Anyhow, I'll be sure to tell my mom about Eardoc (she lives in the US) and I'll be keeping mine in the bedside cabinet!

Jacqui and I are very impressed with how it worked for her. She would always be in excruciating pain - especially on the "down" flight - which is why we don't fly more often. The pain actually causes her to cry, and she suffers for about two to three hours afterward! However, this time around, a bit of pain after the "up" flight (before Eardoc) but when we came to Cape Town, just a sensation of clogged ears (like we all get) but NOTHING else!

We would unreservedly recommend Eardoc to all and sundry - especially frequent fliers - and I'm sure it'll work that well for divers too.
