Early Art Deco Solid Silver Folding Lorgnettes
This lovely pair of solid silver, art deco, folding lorgnettes from the 1920/30's, was probably made in Germany or Austria, as they have a '835' silver stamp under the bridge. They have a beautifully chased heavy silver handle, that folds out, revealing a small sprung catch, when pushed, automatically unfolds the lenses, which are also set, in solid silver octagonal shaped frames, with lovely engraving along the bridge. These lorgnettes are in excellent condition and appear to have hardly been used. The sprung folding mechanism works perfectly and clips shut when closed. Unfolded they measure 10cm lens to lens, 11,5cm including mechanism. The handle measures 6cm x 1,8cm at its widest, folded they measure 5,5cm x 3,2cm and they weigh 31,2g.
