Early French 'Rotameter' Map Measurer (Henri Chatelain)

 

This early, 1920/30's map measurer (Rotameter, Opisometer, Curvimeter or Meilograph) was produced by the 'Henri Chatelain' company in France and used for measuring lengths or distances of curved lines (Roads, Boundaries, Rivers etc) on maps.  The dial is calibrated in both 'Inches to Miles' and 'Centimetres to Kilometres' and is stamped on the front with the 'H & C' factory trademark and on the back 'Made in France'. It's in great condition and appears to be working well and measures 12cm in length x 3,6cm at its widest.
