Early Leather Police 'Convoy' Blackjack/Sap

 

This vintage, leather 'CONVOY' police 'blackjack, sap, or slapper' probably dates to the 1950/60's and is in great condition. It has a lead weighted head with a sprung handle, all wrapped with braided black leather and measures 25cm x 3cm, weighs 440g and is stamped 'CONVOY' on the leather strap.

 

NOTE: A 'blackjack' is a small, handheld weapon that is used for self-defence, and is sometimes referred to as a 'slapjack' or a 'sap'. It normally consists of a heavy metal head, enclosed in leather and can deliver a powerful blow.
