A wonderful original Poole Pottery traditional ware bowl plate, Hand-painted on clear glaze over white slip on red earthenware, pre c1930s.

The red clay is a good date marker for Poole Pottery as they stopped using it in 1934 when the local supply was depleted.

The condition is very good with no chips, restoration

just some grazing due to age.Minimal staining

and the colours are still vibrant and fresh

The backstamp dates it to the period pre 1930's

As Carter Stabler Adams, this factory introduced this range of colourful designs during the 1930s, many featuring animals and plants inspired by nature. Throughout the Second World War, Poole focused on manufacturing good quality utility ware. Post-war, wanting to produce more decorative and colourful items, the company returned to their earlier pattern books, expanding and modifying their range to include new patterns, shapes and sizes. These were produced in hand-painted earthenware - now often regarded as traditional Poole Pottery.
