Early Sterling Silver 'Candida' Brooch
This charming, early, sterling silver, South African double brooch, features a seated chubby Mexican holding a short chain attached to a reluctant donkey fitted with a small dangling bucket on his back. The brooch or brooches from the 1940/50's are beautifully made with amazing detail with each piece having their own pin. They are in excellent condition and are both stamped, on the back 'STER SILV' and 'CANDIDA', a factory mark used by 'Joe Calafato', a South African creative jeweller and silversmith. The brooches measure 3,5cm x 2,5cm and 3cm x 3cm connected with a 7cm chain and together weighing 14,2g.
