Early Victorian Gold & Enamel 'Memorial' Brooch (Dated - 1838)
This fabulous, small, early Victorian, 15ct gold and black enamel mourning brooch features a small lock of woven hair, framed under glass and surrounded with a black enamelled border and the words 'IN MEMORY OF' in gold letters. There's an engraved inscription on the back which reads 'Mr. Wm. Rowley, Died in May 1838, aged 51' and other than a tiny chip to the enamel, this lovely piece is in excellent condition with a secure pin. The brooch measures 24mm x 18mm and weighs 3,7g.
