Vintage Carved Ebony Wooden Hidden Blade Dagger

This is a beautifully carved, wooden dagger from the Ebony tree "Mapingo" using adzes and hammer and chisel, all hand carved in Tanzania (Africa). The item is hidden inside a "wooden" sheath which pulls apart to reveal a very strong shaped hidden blade. The blade has been carved and made by hand also. The dagger is in-laid with copper in various places along its length. When the knife is sheathed, it is hidden on purpose so that the item appears to look like any other hand carved African curio figure/staff/short knobkerrie. It probably dates to around the early 1940/50s and is in excellent condition. It measures 41cm in length. Also the "handle" that you pull out if you feel with your hand or look you can see one side is very slightly and stealthy flattened so that when it needs to be grabbed your fingers and feel which side to pull it out from... a very unique and ingenious way of making sure you always pull it out the right way (during the night or day).
