Screen is not LCD. This toy does not operate like an Ipad or any tablet, android, ios etc device. The screen is a sticker and there are buttons underneath the screen. When you change the mode the "button" will change its function. For example in one mode when you press A the touchpad will say "A" but in another mode it will say "Apple". You can also use the quize function in which, for example, The touch pad would say "find the number 5". Once you press 5 it will say good. Alternatively, it will say "Try Again" if you press the wrong item. There is also a mode when the touch pad will spell out the words that you press. Furthermore, to save battery life, the touch pad will turn off automatically if it is out of use for one minute.
