 First published in 1933, this is the second edition published in 1957 by B.T. Batsford.

This book still remains the standard work on the subject. The author was Professor of Architecture in the University of the Witwatersrand. The text is followed by 113 plates, roughly divided between photographic ones and measured drawings.
