This is the EKOL MAJOR, a lovely, if not excellent, replica of the WALTHER PPK pistol. As with all EKOL branded pistols, they are high engineering standard, the build quality on them are sound, all moving parts actuate positively and the finish on them are durable. EKOL is one of the only blank gun manufacturers we know of, that blues their blank guns and serializes the frames using dot matrix print.

The overall finish on their products is on par with ZORAKI,  the ease of use is disputed as being in a close 2nd place to ZORAKI, whereas the versatility of their product lineup is equal to ZORAKI.

Key Features;

  • Blued finish
  • Good build tolerances
  • Compact vintage pistol, single stack width, w/ broadened gripstocks to permit an easier grip for those with larger hands. The left gripstock features a running welt that the right hand's thumb rests comfortably upon.
  • 7+1 magazine capacity - features withness holes on the side of the magazine body to track your bullet
  • Supplied w/ a rust-free flare tip adapter
  • Hammer fired
  • Single action only
  • Field strips exactly like a MAKAROV / WALTHER PPK
  • Enlarged tab at the base of the magwell for easy magazine release
  • Safety lever acts as imnprovised decocker - The safety just obstructs the path between the butt of the firing pin and the hammer face.
  • Floor plate on the magazine acts as a stopper to prevent one's hand from slipping off.
  • VERY LOVELY gat - comparable with the BRUNI NEW PISTOL.
  • Professionally-looking pistol case supplied with, featuring sliding clips w/ clear LOCK/UNLOCK indicators. Crisply branded as well.

The presentation of this pistol really is lovely and superb!

The pistol fits and sits quaintly in the hand, featuring a tiny set of open sights that do take a little getting used to.
The cocking serrations are old-school too - thin upright grooves w/ a faint slant and moderately coarse - they do work just fine and w/ a firm purchase on the slide, the blowback spring is easily defeated.
The safety lever likewise is seated on the left hand face of the slide, specifically the rear, rotating between the 9 'o clock position and the 7 'o clock position. This safety lever doubles up as an improvised decocking device in that, it shifts a firing pin blocker into place behind the firing pin so that, if the hammer is withdrawn and released from the sear, that it will not strike the firing pin butt. We can understand the utility of this - even if the pistol were to be dropped and the hammer would be bumped off the sear, then the firing pin will still be guarded / be rendered inaccessible.

We previously indicated the finish on this pistol as being truly superb and indeed, even after days of handling a given MAJOR model, the finish remains, whereas the typical paint coat you'd find on these, would have started giving way - that being so, your pistol will retain its 'brand new' look for a length of time, before any real noticeable deterioration would become apparent on the finish.

The pistol is single action only - Meaning, you'll have to rack the slide or cock the hammer in order to be able to discharge the pistol - the hammer will not budge otherwise. The hammer itself is very reminescent of the PPK type, which has the ball ridge. The pinhole on the hammer isn't thorough, but looks the part. The totality of the exposed ball circumference is cross-serrated.

The spring on the broad extractor arm is also quite stiff, which allows for slightly more reliable extraction. The extractor arm here, is a thick one piece, instead of two thin pieces, as is in the case of alot of other 84FS-type blank guns.

The barrel / breech assembly is welded to the frame of the pistol, making it a complete single piece assembly. Lacking an obvious blowback rod, the bblowback spring, you might ask, sleeves / fits around the barrel and resets the slide as such.

Ease of Field Strip

9/10 - One of the easiest MAKAROV / PPK type replicas to strip - pull the front of the trigger guard down, then hitch the slide off the rear and it will come right off.

Lanyard loophole

None

Removable gripstocks

Yes, as is with most all metal frame pistols. The grip stocks are retained in place by a single panhead type phillips drive screw.

Magazine Release

Irregular - features that Makarov-type tab at the base of the handle that you have to push back against. Once the lip of this retainer disengages from the magazine floorplate, you can then pull the magazine down and clear it out of the magwell.

Underbarrel Picatinny Rail

No, didn't exist in the days of vintage pistols
