The Deluxe Big Muff Pi 2 takes Electro-Harmonix's unique dual op-amp design and embellishes it with a host of sonic options for complete fuzz-fueled mayhem. At its core are the classic Level, Tone, and Sustain controls to dial in everything from warm, polite fuzz to searing, rasping sonics. Meanwhile, the Gate control eliminates unwanted noise and hiss even in the most extreme settings. Pushing the boundaries of fuzz madness even further, the Blend control mixes your dry signal with distortion to craft myriad complex tones. Additionally, Latching and Momentary switching modes unlock expressive performance flexibility with a buffered bypass to fortify your signal for long cable runs. With even more tone-expanding features, such as a 3-position Wicker switch, Hi and Lo Q filtering, Mid level and Frequency controls, and an expression pedal input, the Deluxe Big Muff Pi 2 puts you in control of your own fuzz frenzy.

Electro-Harmonix founder Mike Matthews and circuit-bending mastermind Bob Myer share a history that shaped the fuzz world. Together, they created the original Big Muff and collaborated throughout EHX's storied past. Bob, always pushing the sonic envelope, frequently brought Mike fresh designs to match the evolving tech of the times. Some concepts made the cut; others were shelved and forgotten. One such design was the Big Muff Pi 2's dual op-amp circuit, which had been tucked away in Bob's files since the late 1970s. Decades later, during an interview in Bob's workshop, EHX devotees Josh Scott of JHS Pedals and Daniel Danger unearthed the hand-scrawled schematic among Bob's old notes. Josh decoded the design and brought it back to life as the Big Muff Pi 2 a lost circuit reborn for a new generation of fuzz fanatics.
Guitarists find that the Deluxe Big Muff Pi 2 provides plentiful granular control over the iconic woolly tone that has been a player favorite for decades. To start, Electro-Harmonix's Wicker switch makes it easy to radicalize the fuzz sound with two levels of extended high-end clarity. Much like the original Deluxe's midrange circuit, this offspring features a footswitchable mid boost or cut, thanks to a Frequency knob that fine-tunes your sound, and a 2-position Q switch to further tweak your distortion. What's more, the expression pedal input provides real-time control over the Deluxe Big Muff Pi 2's mid frequency via an external expression pedal, giving you a wah-like effect to push your tone toward the edges of sonic insanity.
