Eleven original Japanese hand-printed woodblock prints of chrysanthemums, 1890s
The artist is Kōno Bairei (18441895). Read about him on Wikipedia. His work is represented in leading art museums around the world.
These are the last of the 66 prints that I purchased years ago from an Italian specialist dealer in Japanese fine art.
The prints are in very good condition and all have the unavoidable medial vertical fold. (They were originally bound in the traditional Japanese concertina-fashion.)
Please note that these are NOT modern reproductions. The prints are all 130 years old and date from the Meiji period of Japanese history.
Each print measures 24 x 33 cm,including margins.
The chrysanthemum is the Imperial flower of Japan.
